Jersey Community Foundation (JCF) connects people who want to give back with local causes that matter. As part of a global network of over 1,800 community foundations, JCF ensures donations are managed efficiently and deliver tangible impact to support our Island’s diverse needs.

Since JCF was established in 2020, it has awarded over £9 million in grants to hundreds of local third sector organisations and projects. These initiatives span a wide range of areas, including healthcare, programmes for children and young people, poverty relief, the environment, education, sport, scientific research, arts and heritage.

This range highlights the diversity and vital role of the third sector in strengthening our Island’s services, building community resilience and enhancing the lives of islanders.

This month, we highlight the funding opportunities currently available to the third sector through JCF, explain the criteria for each and share inspiring case studies that show how these grants are making a difference in Jersey.

1.       Jersey Community Fund

Application closing date: 22 May & 31 Oct 2025

Organisations can apply for a Jersey Community Fund grant in response to any issues or needs identified within the local community, provided there is clear evidence of community need. However, priority will be given to projects that align with Jersey’s most pressing areas of need, as identified in JCF’s 2022 Local Needs Assessment:

-            Healthy living (including obesity)

-            Mental health

-            Care for an ageing population

-            Community inclusion/inequality

-            Cost of living impact (poverty)

In December 2024, Jersey Hospice Care was awarded £30,000 from the fund. The grant is being used to fund a dedicated bereavement, counselling and emotional support professional who provides vital assistance across the Island. Their role is to offer information and support to individuals coping with the loss of a relative or friend, as well as those experiencing anticipatory grief following a loved one’s diagnosis of a terminal or life-limiting condition. They also support individuals living with, or diagnosed with, life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses.

2.       Supporting the Supporters

Applications open all year

We understand that people working or volunteering for charitable organisations and groups sometimes need support too. Grants are available up to the value of £5,000. These are aimed at community-facing charitable and volunteer organisations working to safeguard and strengthen the collective wellbeing and professional development of their staff, volunteers and trustees. Priority will be given to impactful community organisations aiming to build greater staff resilience, sustainability and longevity.

The Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB) was awarded £4,400 in December 2024 to support their ‘Yearlong Wellbeing Challenge’. With rising client numbers due to the cost-of-living crisis, this initiative is designed to support the mental, emotional and physical wellbeing of staff and volunteers. Activities like yoga, breathwork, creative workshops and outdoor adventures will equip the team with practical tools to manage stress, build resilience and support healthy living. Through this project, CAB aims to create a supportive and sustainable culture that enables the team to better handle the emotional demands of their work and provide effective support to the community.
