Following the success of our Culture of Philanthropy events last May — where we welcomed the UK’s first-ever Professor of Philanthropic Studies, Beth Breeze, to speak in Jersey — Jersey Community Foundation (JCF) is delighted to announce the next step in our drive to grow a stronger, more sustainable culture of philanthropy across the Island.
Philanthropy expert Emma Beeston joins us on October 14, 2025 for two in-person events at the Radisson Blu hotel. Talking Philanthropy is practical breakfast session tailored for professional advisers and Practical Guidance for Funding Applications & Donor Engagement is an afternoon session for charitable organisations.

Event 1: Talking Philanthropy: A Practical Session for Professional Advisers
Date: 14 October 2025
Time: 08:30 – 11:30am
Venue: Radisson Blu, Jersey
Presented by Jersey Community Foundation
Led by Emma Beeston, philanthropy adviser and author of Advising Philanthropists: Principles and Practice
As conversations about purpose, legacy and positive, local impact become increasingly important to wealthy individuals and businesses, wealth advisers are uniquely placed to guide clients in exploring their philanthropic goals. But many advisers feel unsure about how to begin.
Following on from our successful ‘Culture of Philanthropy’ event last year, Talking Philanthropy is a more practical session designed to help wealth advisers build confidence and direction when it comes to giving philanthropic advice.
Led by experienced philanthropy adviser, author and academic Emma Beeston, this 2.5 hour interactive workshop will equip you with the mindset, tools, and language to start and develop meaningful conversations about giving. Through expert input, client examples, and small group exercises, you’ll learn how to:
Understand why philanthropy matters to clients—and your business
Explore what motivates people to give
Know when and how to raise the topic
Use practical questions to uncover philanthropic interests
Support clients as they shape their giving journey
Whether you’re completely new to advising on philanthropy or looking to build your confidence and offering in this space, this session offers a supportive, hands on introduction to integrating giving into your client conversations.
The event will finish with an update from Locate Jersey.

Event 2: Practical Guidance for Funding Applications & Donor Engagement — For Charitable Organisations and Community Groups
Date: 14 October 2025
Time: 2:00 – 5:00pm
Venue: Radisson Blu, Jersey
Practical Guidance for Funding Applications & Donor Engagement
Join us for an insightful afternoon focused on helping charitable organisations engage donors more effectively and build stronger funding applications.
Organised by Jersey Community Foundation, this in-person event at the Radisson is split into three practical sessions:
Writing Stronger Applications – Philanthropy advisor Emma Beeston will share expert insights on what makes a successful project bid and what funders really look for.
Panel Q&A – A discussion with local funders and experts, offering their honest views on effective fundraising, applications, and what gets funded.
Update on Government Commissioning and Grants – Hear the latest on government funding developments.
We’ll end the afternoon with networking, giving you a chance to connect with peers, funders, and speakers.
Whether you're new to fundraising or looking to sharpen your approach, this session will offer clear, actionable guidance.
Make sure to book your ticket and save the date – more information to follow soon.
These events are part of JCF’s wider commitment to nurturing philanthropy on the Island — supporting advisers in guiding giving, and equipping charitable organisations to access funding more effectively. By working with both sides of the philanthropic relationship, we aim to build a thriving third sector in Jersey that is resilient, well-supported, and able to make a meaningful difference in our community.
We look forward to seeing you there.
