Rivington Fund

The Rivington Fund provides funding to Jersey residents who could not otherwise afford to travel off-Island to further their interest in the arts or history.

The four application deadlines each year are:

  • 1st February

  • 1st May

  • 1st August

  • 1st November

The Rivington Fund aims to enable applicants to travel off-Island to broaden experiences of arts and history, improve applicants’ quality of life through experiences specific to their individual needs and/or help people develop their cultural interests by attending arts and history events and venues.

Those who think they may qualify for this kind of financial support must:

  1. Be Jersey residents

  2. Have an interest in the arts or history

  3. Have not travelled off-Island for leisure in the past two years.

  4. Applicants must be able to outline their trip in detail, reasoning for the trip and

  5. Propose a realistic budget.

  6. Ideally successful applicants would be open to  sharing their journey with us so we can encourage more people in Jersey to apply for this fantastic opportunity. However we understand that some people might prefer to remain anonymous throughout this process.

Never miss a grant deadline

In 1980 a former Jersey resident Mr William Charles Richmond-Pickering gifted a portion of his estate in his will to the Government of Jersey to be used to enable interested Jersey residents to travel abroad in order to further explore and potentially enhance their appreciation of the arts and/or history.

Mr William Charles Richmond-Pickering’s generosity allows Jersey residents of any age, gender or ability to follow their dreams in travelling to see art beyond Jersey and on the world stage, helping to support and strengthen the local cultural community.

William himself was a traveller and art lover. Cuttings books from his travels and experiences can be viewed at The Jersey Archive and include cards, programmes, letters and tickets, cartoons, news cuttings, tickets, invitations, postcards, receipts and other souvenirs.

The Rivington Fund is dedicated to upholding Mr Richmond-Pickering's wishes by administering this fund widely and fairly, enriching the lives of Jersey residents through the arts and history.
